Oh No They Didn't! - Celebrities who are now ghosts...?

Elvis Presley is undoubtedly the most famous person to ever live. His image populates everything from dinner plates and clocks to t-shirts and shower curtains. The legacy he left behind after his death is undeniable and his Tennessee home, Graceland, is still a huge tourist attraction. Some say that Presley never died. The claim goes that he faked his own death and continues to live today. Others say that Elvis is dead and they know this because they have seen his ghost.

It is said that Elvis? ghost has taken up residence in an old building in downtown Nashville that once housed RCA studios where he recorded his hit ?Heartbreak Hotel?. RCA is long gone and today a local television production company is housed in the building. The crew claims that every time someone mentions Elvis in the building poltergeist activity picks up. They claim that lights have exploded, ladders have fallen over, and unexplained bumps and bangs all manifest themselves when someone mentions the king of rock n? roll. Like Monroe, the ghost of Elvis apparently gets around as he is also spotted at his former home in Memphis. He is also seen, decked out in his white jump suit, at the Las Vegas Hilton where he famously performed in the 1970s.

Whether these five celebrity ghosts actually exist is another topic of conversation. I believe that the existence of these stories represent how legendary these figures were in life and in death. These five people touched so many lives and people do not want to believe they are dead, and thus stories of their ghosts lingering persist and will continue to persist.

George Reevse is best known for his portrayal of Superman in the 1950s version of the television series Adventures of Superman. Reeves died at the age of 45 from a gunshot wound to the head. The official cause of death was suicide, but many say that it was murder or an accidental shooting as Reeves was to be married three days after the day he supposedly shot himself. Those who support the official verdict point to Reeves? falling career as motivation for suicide.

After Reeves? death his house was sold and the new owners began claiming that the ghost of George Reeves haunted the house. Most claims were regulated to hearing strange noises coming from Reeves? old bedroom, but one instance was a bit more peculiar. Many members of a television crew filming a documentary on Reeves claimed to have seen him in his old home, dressed in his Superman attire, perhaps the presence of cameras caused Reeves? ghost to try out his old shtick one last time.

Al Capone is a truly infamous celebrity. He is undoubtedly the most notorious gangster of the prohibition era and has been depicted in pop culture by the likes of Robert De Niro and Neville Brand. He is most known for bootlegging liquor, taking part in the St. Valentine?s Day Massacre, and spending time in the infamous prison Alcatraz. Capone?s death was a slow decline in to health resulting in Capone catching pneumonia and dying of cardiac arrest in 1947.

The horrors that Capone was put through at Alcatraz was matched only by the horror that he put people through during his criminal escapades. Alcatraz had a huge impact on Capone and it is said that his ghost still lingers in the National Park. A park ranger at Alcatraz claimed that he often hears banjo music coming from one of the cells. The ranger did not know that the cell the music was coming from had been the cell of Capone. He also was unaware of Capone?s affinity for playing the banjo.

my memories of Lucille Ball are of mostly falling asleep as a kid while trying to stay up all night as I Love Lucy was on. In her heyday she was one of the most popular actresses in America and is still beloved to this day. Her image is still iconic and her television show I Love Lucy still plays on cable. Lucille Ball died during heart surgery after suffering from a heart attack on April 26, 1989. She was 77 years old and left a legacy of entertainment behind her.

Since her death, it is said that she still inhabits her former home. New owners of the house claim that there is a heavy presence of poltergeist activity, including broken windows, moving furniture, and items disappearing only to reappear later. It is also said that even in death Ball is still a Hollywood socialite as loud voices are often heard coming from the attic as if a party is going on.

Marilyn Monroe is the quintessential Hollywood icon. She set the standard for what it meant to be a Hollywood actress. The years before Monroe?s death was filled with personal problems and her star was beginning to wane as a reputation of being hard to work with began following her around. In 1962 Monroe was found dead in her Hollywood home in California. She had died of an apparent drug overdose. Her official cause of death was listed as ?probable suicide?. Like most larger than life celebrities, the circumstances surrounding her death is shrouded in controversy.

Monroe apparently still gets around even in the afterlife. Her ghost has been spotted hovering over her tomb at the Westwood Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. She is also said to haunt the house in which she died. It is also said that Monroe?s ghost spends a lot of time appearing in a full-length mirror, frightening guests at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

This gave me a bit of a giggle, i'd be pissed enough to be haunted and even more so to be upstaged by being haunted by a celebrity.
