Thanksgiving is a time for friends and family, food and drink, football and parades. Enjoy them all, but remember to put relationships at the top of your list.
In the past, we have often said, ?make relationships the ?main course,? and food the ?side dish,?? and that?s especially true on holidays like Thanksgiving. It doesn?t really matter what you eat as long as you?re surrounded by the ones you love.
We will be having Thanksgiving dinner with my sister and her family, as well as assorted other friends and relatives. The other day, when I spoke with my sister, she asked if there was any particular side dish or food that I wanted with Thanksgiving dinner. The question struck me as odd.
Don?t get me wrong ? it was very generous for her to ask, but I just don?t think about the food much at all. Sure, I love cranberries, sweet potatoes, and all the other traditional Thanksgiving ?fixins.? But the relationships are so much more important. It really doesn?t matter to me what I eat as long as I?m with friends and family.
So, this holiday, don?t worry about what you?re eating. Instead be thankful for the relationships you have, and enjoy the day. Look for opportunities to build new relationships and reinforce old ones. And, enjoy the meal too!
Remember, healthy choices each day can transform families for generations! What choices will you make today?
